Introduction

The problem that is identified below has a known solution. Use the solution that is identified below.

Problem

The flange head on 442-5593 Coupling As may have been manufactured incorrectly. The couplings that were manufactured incorrectly have a date code of FATR.

Solution

Use the following procedure to determine if the coupling assembly is correct:

  1. If 442-5593 Coupling As is used, check the date code.

  2. If the date code is FATR, measure the flange thickness.

    (A) 14.25 ± 0.15 mm (0.561 ± 0.006 inch)

  3. The flange thickness should have dimension (A) if the coupling is good.

    (B) 10 mm (0.4 inch)

  4. If the flange thickness has dimension (B), replace existing 442-5593 Coupling As with correct 442-5593 Coupling As (as referred in Illustration 1).
