Introduction

The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.

Problem

C27 and C32 Tier 4 interim and Tier 4 final NOx Reduction System (NRS) coolers may have contingent damage when there is another cooling system failure.

Solution

Depending on the temperatures reached on the NRS cooler during the failure, additional inspection and/or replacement of the opposing cooler will be required. A low temperature failure of one cooler will require inspection of the opposing cooler and validation of the cooler per the reuse and salvage guidelines. A high temperature failure or repeat failure on one side of the engine will require both coolers being replaced.
