The 490-0654 Bellows Assembly May Be Built Wrong on Certain 3500C Marine Engines {1059}

If reworking the Tier 3 exhaust make sure that the 490-0654 Bellows As insert liner is installed into the correct end of the bellows. If the ring liner is installed on the same end as the ring stamped with flow, as shown in Illustration 1, then the bellows is built wrong. The dealer technician should notice that the joint is not mating properly and would have issues with assembling the clamp due to insufficient threads.
Solution
Return to Morton and order a new bellows.
