New software is now available for Cat® Product Link (PL121) for all Cat Machines with PL121 standalone, PL321SR, and PL321VSR (PLVIMS) systems.

The new software has the following improvements:

  • Improved message transmission between PL121 radio and PL300 (A4N1) gateway and also to PLVIMS (A4N4) gateway

  • Improved ability to configure Product Link system from VisionLink especially while the machine is not operating (but with the master disconnect not engaged)

  • Improved responsiveness to configuration changes via admin messages transmitted back to VisionLink

  • Improved communication to the new Orbcomm OG2 Satellites

The new 499-3794 Communication Software Gp has been released for the current production 336-3545 Communication Radio Gp.

Software Flashing Procedure

The procedure for flashing the software is explained in the steps below:

  1. Download the flash file (.smp file) from SIS web.

  2. Flash the PL121 336-3545 Communication Radio Gp with the 499-3794 Communication Software Gp.

Note: The new software is flashed onto the module using Cat® Electronic Technician (Cat ET). Always use the latest version of Cat ET for the optimal machine software support.

Note: Refer to the above mentioned media for appropriate procedures on flashing the software.

Note: The new software for Product Link (PL121) can only be used to upgrade the 336-3545 Communication Radio Gp.

Note: Do not flash this new software file on previous production (PL121s) 263-9088 Communication Radio Gp .

  3. After flashing the new software, adjust the internal Product Link clock to agree with the machine Service Meter Hours (SMH) as indicated on the hour meter.

  4. Once flashing is successful queue an admin message using Cat® Electronic Technician (Cat ET).

Note: To obtain the full benefits of the improvements and enhancements, both the radio and the gateway software must be flashed. The latest software for the gateway modules can be found in SIS web.
