Machine Preparation

  1. Remove the Half Flanges (F), Bolts (G), Hard Washers (H), and Covers from the Manifold (E). Retail components for reuse.

Installation Procedure

  1. Clean the right-hand pin bores for the tilt cylinder on the loader frame. Ensure that the bores are clean, dry, and free of any rust.

  2. Clean the right-hand pin bores for the tilt cylinder on the tilt lever. Ensure that the bores are clean, dry, and free of any rust.

  3. Install two Lip Type Seals (19) into the rod end of the right-hand tilt cylinder. Apply Sealant (A) to the outside diameter of each seal prior to installation.

  4. Install two Lip Type Seals (19) into the head end of the right-hand tilt cylinder. Apply Sealant (A) to the outside diameter of each seal prior to installation.

  5. Ensure the grease port on the rod end of the Tilt Cylinder Gp () is oriented downward. Ensure the grease port on the head end of the tilt cylinder is oriented upward.

    Using a suitable lifting devise, lift the right-hand tilt cylinder into place on the loader frame.

    Note: The hoses on the tilt cylinder are oriented towards the center of the machine.

  6. Ensure the Pin (17), installed bearings, and machine bores are clean, dry, and free of rust. Lubricate the pin and installed bearings with "80W90" gear oil.

    Align the pin bore in the head end of the tilt cylinder with the pin bores on the loader frame.

    Using a suitable lifting device, position the pin in line with the bores on the loader frame. Install the pin into the pin bore.

  7. Apply Anti-Seize Compound (C) to the inside and outside diameters of one of the Collets (16). Apply Anti-Seize Compound (C) to the Bolt (18).

    Install the Collet (16), Bolt (18), and Washer (21) for the head end, tilt cylinder pin from the center of the machine.

  8. Apply Anti-Seize Compound (C) to the inside and outside diameters of one of the Collets (16). Apply Anti-Seize Compound (C) to the Nut (20).

    Install the collet into the frame bore from the outboard side of the machine. Install the Nut (20) and Washer (21) onto the Bolt (18). Finger tighten the nut and bolt.

  9. Apply Anti-Seize Compound (C) to the Plugs (15). Install the plugs into the in-board Collet (16). Torque each plug to 12 ± 3 N·m (9 ± 2 lb ft).

  10. Apply Anti-Seize Compound (C) to the Plugs (15). Install the plugs into the out-board Collet (16). Torque each plug to 12 ± 3 N·m (9 ± 2 lb ft).

  11. Perform the following steps to complete the pin installation process.

    1. Tighten 3E-8009 Bolt (18) to a torque of 1800 ± 200 N·m (1330 ± 150 lb ft).

    2. Strike the collets and the lift cylinder head end with a hammer until the bolt torque drops to 950 N·m (700 lb ft).

    3. Tighten 3E-8009 Bolt (18) to a torque of 1800 ± 200 N·m (1330 ± 150 lb ft).

    4. Strike the collets and the lift cylinder head end with a hammer until the bolt torque drops to 1600 N·m (1180 lb ft).

    5. Tighten 3E-8009 Bolt (18) to a torque of 1800 ± 200 N·m (1330 ± 150 lb ft).

      Note: After the bolt is tightened, each collet should extend the same distance from the lift arm.Torque the bolts after the machine has operated for 8 hours and after the machine has operated for 50 hours.

  12. Ensure the Pin (17), installed bearings, and machine bores are clean, dry, and free of rust. Lubricate the pin and installed bearings with "80W90" gear oil.

    Align the pin bore in the rod end of the tilt cylinder with the pin bores on the tilt lever.

    Using a suitable lifting device, position the pin in line with the bores on the loader frame. Install the pin into the pin bore.

  13. Apply Anti-Seize Compound (C) to the inside and outside diameters of one of the Collets (16). Apply Anti-Seize Compound (C) to the Bolt (18).

    Apply Anti-Seize Compound (C) to the inside and outside diameters of the other Collet (16). Apply Anti-Seize Compound (C) to the Nut (20).

    Install the Collet (16), Bolt (18), and Washer (21), into the frame bore from the outboard side of the machine.

    Install the other Collet (16), Nut (20) and Washer (21) onto the Bolt from the inboard side of the machine. Finger tighten the nut and bolt.

  14. Apply Anti-Seize Compound (C) to the Plugs (15). Install the plugs into the in-board Collet (16). Torque each plug to 12 ± 3 N·m (9 ± 2 lb ft).

    Install the plugs into the out-board Collet (15). Torque each plug to 12 ± 3 N·m (9 ± 2 lb ft).

  15. Perform the following steps to complete the pin installation process.

    1. Tighten 3E-8009 Bolt (18) to a torque of 1800 ± 200 N·m (1330 ± 150 lb ft).

    2. Strike the collets and the tilt cylinder rod end with a hammer until the bolt torque drops to 950 N·m (700 lb ft).

    3. Tighten 3E-8009 Bolt (18) to a torque of 1800 ± 200 N·m (1330 ± 150 lb ft).

    4. Strike the collets and the tilt cylinder rod end with a hammer until the bolt torque drops to 1600 N·m (1180 lb ft).

    5. Tighten 3E-8009 Bolt (18) to a torque of 1800 ± 200 N·m (1330 ± 150 lb ft).

      Note: After the bolt is tightened, each collet should extend the same distance from the lift arm.Torque the bolts after the machine has operated for 8 hours and after the machine has operated for 50 hours.

  16. Position the 1P-3705 Rectangular Seal (D) in place on the 357-6226 Manifold (E).

    Install the 423-0172 Hose As (4). Secure the Hose As to the Manifold with two 5P-8077 Half Flanges (F), four 8T-4140 Bolts (G), and four 8T-4122 Hard Washers (H).

    Torque the bolts to 240 ± 40 N·m (175 ± 30 lb ft).

  17. Position the 1P-3705 Rectangular Seal (D) in place on the 357-6226 Manifold (E).

    Install the 423-0172 Hose As (4). Secure the Hose As to the Manifold with two 5P-8077 Half Flanges (F), four 8T-4140 Bolts (G), and four 8T-4122 Hard Washers (H).

    Torque the bolts to 240 ± 40 N·m (175 ± 30 lb ft).

  18. Carefully fill both pin joints with the appropriate lubricant. Continue to fill the joints until the lubricant is forced out of the pin seals.

    Note: DO NOT rely on the automatic lubrication system to fill the new pin joints.

  19. Remove the plug in the rod end of the tilt cylinder.

  20. Install the Adapter (24) into the head end of the cylinder. Seal the connection with one 3J-7354 O-Ring Seal (part of 24).

    Torque the adapter to 15 ± 3 N·m (11 ± 2 lb ft).

  21. Remove the 6V-9828 Cap As (if equipped). Connect the angled end of the Hose As (22) to the 6V-8628 Elbow for the automatic lubrication system. Seal the connection with one 4J-5477 O-Ring Seal (part of Elbow).

    Connect the straight end of the Hose As (22) to the Adapter (24) on the head end of the right-hand tilt cylinder. Seal the connection with one 4J-5477 O-Ring Seal (part of Adapter (24).

  22. Attach the straight fitting on the Hose (22) to the Union As (K). Seal the connection with one 6V-8398 O-Ring Seal (part of K).

    Attach the angled fitting on the Hose (22) to the Elbow As (L). Seal the connection with one 6V-8398 O-Ring Seal (part of L).

  23. Repeat Step 1 through Step 22 to install the left-hand tilt cylinder.
