The Zero function is used to adjust for changes in the empty bucket weight due to bucket wear or excess material stuck in the bucket. Perform bucket zero when:
- When prompted by the software
- Not achieving desired accuracy
- Ground Engagement Tool (GET) change
- Material carryback change
- On startup
A zero is performed to improve the accuracy of the Cat® Production Measurement application.
Zero messages instruct the operator to perform a zero lift. The zero lift is performed to correct the following:
- Changes to the material that is in the bucket
- Changes in the hydraulic oil temperature
Details for each message are shown below:
Perform Zero - Zero Timer Expired
This message is displayed when the following occurs:
- The machine has been running for more than 5 minutes and this application has not been zeroed
- More than 4 hours passed since a zero was performed
Perform Zero - Hydraulic Oil Temp Changed
This message is displayed when the following occurs:
- The system has detected a significant change in oil temperature
- The change occurred since the previous zero was performed
Zero an empty bucket when:
- Any of the above two messages are displayed on the screen
- On startup
- When carryback is occurring and not able to be removed
Perform the following to zero an empty bucket:
- Rack an empty bucket back.
- Lift through the weigh range.
- Verify that the weight is a scaled weight with a green box.
- Press bucket zero button.
Alert message area will report either:
- "Zero Accepted"
- "Weight Too Heavy to Zero"
The total amount of the weight that can be zeroed can only be less than or equal to 66% of the calibration weight.
