Troubleshooting Test Steps  Values  Results

1. Check the DEF Quality

A. Check the DEF Quality. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Diesel Exhaust Fluid Quality – Test".

DEF Quality Meets Standard
Result: If the DEF is contaminated with diesel or oil as per 3516-2.

Repair: For 3516-2 Diesel or Oil in DEF.If diesel or oil is confirmed in the DEF, the following DEF components must be replaced: DEF Tank, DEF Heater Unit, DEF Pump, DEF Lines, and DEF Injector.

Result: The DEF concentration is not within acceptable range.

Repair: Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Diesel Exhaust Fluid Tank – Flush".

2. Refill the DEF Tank

A. Refill the DEF Tank. Refer to OMM. Check to see if the code comes back.

Active Code

Result: Check to see if the code comes back.

3. Check harness continuity between the DEF Heater Unit and the DCU.
