Bearing - Remove and Install

Start By:

  1. Remove terminal box.

  2. Remove exciter.

------ WARNING! ------

When you are using hydraulic cylinders and puller studs, always ensure that the rated capacity of the puller stud meets or exceeds the rated capacity of the hydraulic cylinder. If the puller stud does not meet or exceed the rated capacity of the hydraulic cylinder, a sudden failure of the puller stud could occur. The sudden failure of the puller stud could result in personal injury or death.

  1. Remove bolts (1) and bolts (2). Remove bolts (4) and remove terminal bracket (3).

  2. Install Tooling (B) between to rotor and the stator to ensure that these parts do not contact one another. Remove two bolts (5) and install Tooling (A). Remove remaining bolts (5).

  3. Remove bolts (7) and remove retainer (6). Repeat for the other side.

  4. Install Tooling (C) and tighten until barrel (8) begins to separate from bearing housing (9). Thread suitable lifting device through gap to support bearing housing (9). The weight of bearing housing (9) is approximately 100 kg (220 lb). Remove bearing housing (9).

  5. Install Tooling (D). Use suitable lifting device to support Tooling (D). Use Tooling (D) to remove bearing (10).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install bearing (10) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Raise temperature of bearing (10) to assist installation.
