Usage:

Set the correct date and time for the Machine Security System. Use the following procedure to set the date and time.

Note: Changing the MSS clock time requires a key with the master access level or a factory password. When the 30 second grace period is active, the MSS Status LED will be illuminated GREEN with the keyswitch in the OFF position.

  1. Connect Cat ® Electronic Technician (Cat ET) to the service connector via the communication adapter.

  2. Place the master access level key into the key start switch and turn the key to the ON position or enter the master access level passcode.

  3. Start Cat ET.

  4. Click the "Connect" icon in the menu bar of ET.

  5. Make sure that the Engine ECM is selected through ET.

  6. Click the service menu drop-down in ET.

  7. If a change is necessary, select "Change", on the bottom left corner.

  8. Select a relevant time zone from the drop-down list.

    Note: The option to sync to the computer time is available. Press the "Get PC Date/Time" button.

    Click "OK" to verify that the information is correct.

  9. Enter the local date and time. Use an accurate time source.

    Note: Laptop clocks are not accurate and may have a different time than the local time.

  10. Click the "Yes" button to change the date and time or click the "No" button to cancel the change. ET will display the new time on a 24-hour clock.
