Modification to Control Panel Supply Wiring on Certain C6.6 Marine Generator Sets{1408, 4490, 7451} Caterpillar

Marine Generator Set:

Introduction

There are isolated instances where the control panel power supply cable is connected to the incorrect location. The power supply is connected to the incoming side of the glow plug circuit breaker. The circuit is being supplied with unprotected battery power.

1. Prepare the generator set for maintenance. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Generator Isolating for Maintenance".

2. Remove the four bolts from cover (2). Remove cover (2) .

3. Remove Glow Plug Intermediate Relay (3) .

4. Remove the feed wire that is connected to the 20 amp circuit breaker and the glow plug relay base (not shown).

5. Disconnect Connector (6). Remove Cable (4) and Connector (6) .

6. Disconnect Cable (5) from terminal 3 of connector (7) and the battery isolator switch. Remove Cable (5) .

7. Install Terminal (A) of Harness (1) to 20 Amp Circuit Breaker (8) .

8. Install Terminal (C) of Harness (1) to Glow Plug Intermediate Relay (3) .

9. Connect Terminal (B) of Harness (1) to Connector (6) .

10. Connect Terminal (D) of Harness (1) to Connector (7) .

11. Install Glow Plug Intermediate Relay (3) .

12. Install cover (2) .

13. Reconnect battery voltage.
