New Recommendations for Plumbing the Gear Oil Cooler on Certain C32 Marine Engines {3320}

Usage:

C32 SDN
Marine Engine:
C32 MARINE (S/N: SDN1-UP)

Use the following recommendations for plumbing the gear oil cooler on certain C32 Marine Engines. For coolers 30 kW and below refer to Illustrations 1 and 2. For coolers larger than 30 kw refer to Illustration 3.

(1) Plug

Illustration 2g03761537

For gear oil coolers up to 30 kW, partial flow from the sea water outlet is needed to the inlet side of the cooler. Remove plug (1) and plumb the inlet side of the cooler to the sea water outlet port. The return side of the gear oil cooler must be plumbed to the sea water overboard return. Refer to the Technical Marketing Information (TMI) "Auxiliary Pump Performance Data " flow for specific flow curves.

It is not recommended to install a goose neck at a height above the seawater pump inlet on vessels with engines installed above the water line. This additional restriction can cause the sea water pump to be unable to recover prime in certain operating conditions.

For gear oil coolers above 30 kW, full flow from the heat exchangers is needed to the inlet side of the cooler. The return side of the cooler must be plumbed to the sea water overboard return. Refer to the Technical Marketing Information (TMI) "Auxiliary Pump Performance Data " flow for specific flow curves.
