行星变速箱有 9 个前进档速度档和 2 个倒档速度档。 "倒档"和"空档"只使用变矩器驱动。 在较低的行驶速度下,"一"档"前进档"使用变矩器驱动模式。

随着行驶速度在 "2F" 档增加,直接驱动模式启用。 当变矩器输出转速传感器的信号和发动机转速传感器的信号指示相同转速时,变速箱 ECM 接合锁定离合器,以提供直接驱动模式。 当动力传动系上的负载轻时,此策略提供 "1F"、"2F" 和 "4F" 直接驱动模式。 直接驱动模式在更高的行驶速度下燃油效率更高,但变矩器驱动模式在较低的速度下可提高扭矩或牵引力。 来自变矩器的旋转功率传输到变速箱输入轴。

在 "2F" 至 "9F" 档位下,变矩器始终处于直接驱动模式。 变速箱换档期间分离和接合离合器时,将会保持直接驱动模式,从而保持各个车轮上的扭矩。 如果换档变得粗暴,通过使用 Cat ET 执行离合器加注标定步骤,可以轻易排除故障。

两个变速箱输出转速传感器(未显示)确定输出轴 (7) 的转速和方向。 变速箱 ECM 的换档策略将考虑这些传感器发送的信号。

电子主安全阀 (EMRV) 基于发动机扭矩设定最大离合器压力。 当选择档位时,ECM 向 EMRV 发送信号,以限制最大压力。 每个离合器由电子离合器压力控制 (ECPC) 阀控制,该阀控制单个离合器上的压力。

当变速箱 ECM 中的软件确定需要从一个档位换到下一个档位时(手动或自动),ECM 通电变速箱调制阀电磁阀,向相应离合器活塞输送高压油。 此压力将活塞移向离合器片和盘,将片和盘压缩在一起。 当片和盘达到接合压力时,相应变速箱行星齿轮开始旋转,导致变速箱输出轴在选定档位的速度范围内向输出分动器传递旋转功率和速度。
