Disassembly Procedure

Start By:

1. Remove the final drive, the wheel, and the service brake piston housing .

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be cleaned thoroughly. Cleaning will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

1. Position spindle assembly (1) in a vertical position with the brake assembly facing upward.

2. Remove O-ring seal (2).

3. Remove retaining ring (3).

4. Remove hub (4) from spindle assembly (1).

5. Remove outer plate (5), friction disc (6), outer plate (7), friction disc (8), outer plate (9), friction disc (10), outer plate (11), friction disc (12), and outer plate (13) from spindle assembly (1).

   Note: Steps 6 through 12 are for the disassembly of the service brake piston housing.

   Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force. Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment. Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.

6. Use Tooling (A) and a suitable press in order to compress springs (17) on piston housing (14).

7. Remove retaining pins (15) (not shown) from spring guides (16).

8. Release the pressure from the suitable press. Remove springs (17) and spring guides (16) from piston housing (14).

9. Remove retaining ring (18), hard washer (19), and pin (20) from piston housing (14).

10. Remove hollow dowel (21) and O-ring seal (22) from piston housing (14).

11. To separate piston (23) from piston housing (14), block purge port (25) and apply a small amount of pressure to pressure port (24). Remove piston (23) from piston housing (14).
