The parking brake control valve (1) is located on top of the frame, below the cab. The parking brake control valve directs oil flow to the parking brake. When the parking brake switch in the cab is turned "ON", the power train ECM de-energizes the parking brake solenoid (2). The solenoid blocks oil to the spool inside the parking brake valve. Spring force moves the spool. This movement allows the oil in the parking brake actuator to flow to the tank and spring force engages the parking brake. When the parking brake switch in the cab is turned "OFF".
, the Power Train ECM energizes the parking brake solenoid. The solenoid directs oil to the spool inside the parking brake valve. The spool moves and directs oil to the parking brake actuator, which releases the parking brake. Also shown in this view is the parking brake pressure sensor. The parking brake pressure sensor (3) sends a signal to the power train ECM indicating parking brake pressure.
