Typical scoreboard for large off-highway trucks |
The payload scoreboard display is designed to operate with any standard VIMS or TPMS system to display the payload weight. The weight is derived from the truck payload system and is displayed in English tons or Metric tons. Typically two payload scoreboard displays are installed on the truck, on the right side and the left (cab) side.

Dip switches located on rear of payload scoreboard display |
Switches are used to set the options for the two payload scoreboard displays. These "dip" switches are on the back of the scoreboard display under a cover plate. To access the switches, remove the four bolts that hold the plate to the back of the scoreboard display.

Scoreboard display dip switches and functions |
Dip switch 1 - Off = Normal, On = Display 888
Dip switch 2 - Off = Normal, 1 and 2 on = count up
Dip switch 3 - Off = Blank on Empty, On = 000 on empty
Dip switch 4 - Not Used
Dip switch 5 - Not Used
Dip switch 6 - Not Used
Dip switch 7 - Off = VIMS, On = Not used
Dip switch 8 - Off = Metric, On = English
Dip switch 9 - Off = Disable Transmit, On = Enable
Dip switch 10 - Off = High Z (Impedance) Mode, On = Normal
Refer to the following tables to set the options on the payload scoreboard display.

(1) | Switch (1) is a test switch that turns on all segments of the payload scoreboard display in order to test the lamps. The display should read 888 when the switch is in the ON position. |
(2) | Switch (2) is a test switch that is used with switch (1). When switch (1) and switch (2) are in the ON position at the same time, the display of the scoreboard should count upward. |
(3) | The scoreboard units, "Standard", or "Metric", will match the selection made under the units of measurement in the Advisor Display. This function occurs if the configuration settings under the "VIMS APP" are set to "Count UP" using Cat ET. |
(4) | "ON" position allows the data to be transferred to the second scoreboard. Making the scoreboard the "Master" scoreboard (on left cab side ). |
(5) | "ON" position allows the scoreboard to receive and acknowledge message from the VIMS Module. The master scoreboard (on left cab side ) must have this switch on. If "OFF", the master scoreboard will not acknowledge the first message received and will freeze on that value. |

A scoreboard display that is directly connected to the VIMS system must:
- Have transmit disabled to allow the telemetry system to communicate with VIMS. Switch 9 "OFF" disables the payload monitor transmit.
- Be in high impedance mode to avoid loading the VIMS transmit signal. Switch 10 "OFF" puts the payload monitor into high impedance mode.
