Description of Change: The new plate assembly is thicker than the bracket that is currently used. The new plate assembly will improve the service life of the system in the field.
Adaptable To: The new 420-0802 Plate As is now part of the 278-8487 Air Starting Control Gp (If Equipped), and the 288-2628 Air Starting Lines Gp (If Equipped).
The new plate assembly can be used to support the air solenoid and switch in place of the 318-8583 Bracket. The bracket is part of the 351-2417 Lubrication Pump Gp (If Equipped), and the 351-2420 Lubrication Pump Gp (If Equipped).
The new 420-0802 Plate As is adaptable to machines SSP1-122, and LAJ1-446. The new plate assembly became effective in production with the machines SSP123-UP, and LAJ447-UP.
If the 318-8583 Bracket bends, replace the bracket with the new plate assembly. Use the following procedure to update the machines with the new 420-0802 Plate As.

- The lubrication system is located at the front, left corner of the machine.

- Disassemble the air solenoid and switch (2) from plate (3). Save the hardware, the air solenoid, and the switch.
- Remove plate (3) from the lube barrel. Discard the plate.

- Remove the two bolts (4) and two washers (5) from the lube barrel. Save the bolts and washers.

- Use the two bolts (4) and two washers (5) from the previous step to assemble plate assembly (1) to the lube barrel.

- Retrieve the parts that were saved in Step (1). Use the hardware to assemble the air solenoid and switch (2) to plate assembly (1) .
