PM-200 Cold Planer Caterpillar

Upper Conveyor Belt (Second Stage) Tension and Tracking - Adjust

Usage:

PM-200 P1C
Note: Keeping the proper tension on the secondary conveyor belt is necessary for long belt life. Proper tension on the secondary conveyor belt is required for proper conveyor operation.

The secondary conveyor belt will naturally stretch with normal use. Adjust the belt with small corrections. Check the operation with each adjustment.

  1. Lower the upper conveyor and the front legs of the machine to the lowest position possible.

  1. Turn the engine OFF.

  1. Remove the secondary conveyor front side covers (1) .

  1. Use an 86 cm (33.86 inch) length squared tube (2) positioned at a distance (A) 72 cm (28.3 inch)from the first idler return roller (3) on the upper frame of the secondary conveyor.

  1. Attach two hooks (4) and two suitable chains (5) to the squared tube (2) as shown on the above illustration. The minimum required length of each chain is 1800 mm (70.86 inch). Attach a 75 kg (165.35 lb) weight (6) to the end of the chains.

  1. Measure the distance (B) from the secondary conveyor belt surface to the secondary conveyor frame.

  1. Turn ON the machine and enable the electrical circuit. Slowly raise the secondary conveyor until the weight detaches from the ground.

  1. Measure again the distance (B). When correctly tensioned, the secondary conveyor belt has a deflection of 45 mm (1.8 inch).

If the deflection value is more than 45 mm (1.8 inch), proceed as follows to restore the needed value:

      Illustration 5g03438724

    1. Loosen locking nuts (7) on both sides of the secondary conveyor.

    1. Tighten alternately adjusting screws (8) in order to acquire the desired deflection of 45 mm (1.8 inch).

Note: Observe the tracking of the belt. The belt will track toward the side that needs additional tension. Tighten the tension on this side of conveyor.

    1. Tighten locking nuts (7) on both sides of the secondary conveyor.

If the deflection value is less than 45 mm (1.8 inch), proceed as follows to restore the needed value:

    1. Loosen locking nuts (7) on both sides of the secondary conveyor.

    1. Loosen alternately adjusting screws (8) in order to acquire the desired deflection of 45 mm (1.8 inch).

Note: Observe the tracking of the belt. The belt will track toward the side that needs additional tension. Tighten the tension on this side of conveyor.

    1. Tighten locking nuts (7) on both sides of the secondary conveyor.
