Removing the Headliner

  1. Enter the Cab and locate Headliner (A). Remove and discard three Fasteners (B). Refer to Illustration 1. Carefully pull Headliner (A) away from the rear window by folding Headliner so that Instrument Panel Harness As (C) and Plate (D) are exposed. Refer to Illustration 2.

Installing the Speakers

  1. Mount one Radio Speaker (4) onto one Bracket (8) by inserting four Screws (15) upward. Make sure the Connectors on the Speaker face the rear of the machine. Refer to Illustration 3.

    Note: Repeat Step 1 on the opposite side of the machine

  2. Connect the wire leads from Instrument Panel Harness As (C) to the terminals on the Speaker Connectors. Refer to Table 3 for the proper connections

  3. Attach Bracket (8) to Plate (D) by inserting two Bolts (14). Secure Bracket (8) by tightening one Threaded Insert (11) on the opposite side of each Bolt. Refer to Illustration 4.

    Note: If installing the 388-8286 Radio Kit immediately after completing this procedure, do not reinstall the headliner until the Radio AM/FM is installed. However, if purchasing a market Radio separately, reinstall the Headliner using three Fasteners (2) in the holes that support the Headliner to the Cab. Refer to Step 1 in "Removing the Headliner"

Inserting the Radio Components into the Radio Cover

  1. Tilt back the Cab and secure in the upright position by using the safety pins. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU9084, "Cab Tilting".

    Note: Use Cover (9) provided in the 388-8283 Radio Kit if purchasing this Kit only. If purchasing the 388-8286 Radio Kit also, use the 345-6145 Cover provided in this Kit instead

  2. Place Coaxial Cable As (3) and Radio Harness As (5) inside Cover (9). Place Spacer (6) on the front of the Radio Cover as shown in Illustrations 5 and 6.

    Note: The installer may have to cut through the lines marked on the Spacer in order to fit a custom Radio, purchased separately.

Installing the Antenna

  1. Hand-tighten Antenna As (1) onto Bracket (E) located on the left-hand side of the Cab of the machine. Ensure that Antenna As (1) is in a straight vertical position in order to prevent damaging the Antenna when moving the Lift Arms. Refer to Illustrations 7 and 8.

Installing the Radio Cover

  1. Remove Cover (F) located in the interior of the Cab.

  2. Insert Cover (9) containing the Harness As and the Cable As through the slot exposed after removing Cover (F). Reinstall Cover (F) into the Cab Liner Group if the Radio AM/FM Kit will not be installed immediately after completing this procedure. Refer to Illustrations 9 and 10.

  3. Attach Bracket (7) to the back of Cover (9) using one Fastener (2). Refer to Illustration 11. Make sure that the Stud (G) on the Cab Liner Group is in line with the slot on the longest side of Bracket (7). Refer to Illustration 12.

  4. Attach Bracket (7) to the Canopy As. using Washer (13) and Nut (12). Refer to Illustration 13.

Installing the Grommet

Note: Use 345-6174 Grommet (10) provided in this 388-8283 Radio Kit if purchasing this Kit only. If purchasing the 388-8286 Radio Kit also, use the 9G-1307 Grommet provided in that Kit instead.

  1. Install Grommet (10) from underneath the Cab on the left-hand side of the Plate from the Canopy As. Refer to Illustration 14.

  2. Lower the Cab to the operating position. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU9084, "Cab Tilting".
