Problem
Some couplings that are reusable have the permanent equivalent part number that is marked incorrectly. This has mixed the inventory for the reusable couplings. Caterpillar is sorting the parts that are in inventory.
Solution
The couplings that are identified as being marked incorrectly can be used. Reference the hose and the series that is shown on the couplings and following the specifications for a proper crimp. Refer to PELJ0803: HOS07-01 IRM. A service letter for parts stock is being issued in order to address returning the permanent couplings. Refer to Table 1 for a list of parts that have a potential of mixed stock.
