A new Product Link Software is now available for all Caterpillar Products. The new 434-5160 Communication Software Gp contains improvements and enhancements for the PL522 Systems.
The following are the improvements and enhancements for PL522 Systems that are included in the new software:
- Improved reporting of Service Meter Units (SMU) and Location messages.
- Improved recording of MSS Key ID in Started/Stop messages.
- Improved the stability of the PL522 ECM, thereby reducing the frequent occurrence of the diagnostic code CID 1250 - FMI 09.
- In order to improve fuel and hours parameters being updated in VisionLink, perform a memory buffer clearing periodically.
Note: Product Link request fuel and hours information from all ECM's via various data links. When all the ECMs respond, the data buffer can over flow causing the fuel and hours value to not get reported to VisionLink. In order to prevent the data over flow from occurring as frequently, periodically clear the memory buffer.

(C) The new software is flashed onto the Module using "WinFlash". Always use the latest version of Caterpillar Electronic Technician for the optimal machine software support.
Note: To obtain the full benefit of the improvement, both the radio and the gateway software must be flashed. It is important to submit a field support case to have the radio flashed over the air after flashing the Gateway.
