Description of Change: The new software helps address oil degradation that has developed in applications operating in Lesser Regulated Countries related to high sulfur fuel usage.
Adaptable To: The new software is adaptable back to first production on the serial numbers listed above. Refer to Table 1 for the new software part numbers and the existing part numbers that are being replaced.
Refer to the rework procedure below to install the new engine software.

Rework Procedure
The following actions are required to complete the rework procedure:
- Update the engine ECM flash file with the appropriate Software
- Install the new Engine Emissions Label and Engine Information Label.
Note: Any engines that are updated with the new PSO Software must stay in that Geographic Region. If an engine is to leave that specific location, the engine must be updated with the original software part number. Also, the engine must be updated with a new Engine Emissions Label and Engine Information Label.
Note: A factory password is required to complete the engine software flash.
- Begin at the SIS web home page:https://sis.cat.com
- From the SIS web home page, select the "Engine Technical Marketing Information-TMI" link.
- Once in TMI, input the serial number of the engine into the reference number box and select "Serial Number" in the drop-down menu.
- Press the "Retrieve Data" button.
- Select the "Emissions Data" link.
- Scroll to the bottom and click the link titled, "Need emissions replacement label-Click Here!". The user will be direct to the "Large Power Systems Division" Home page.

- Click on the "Emissions/Certification Replacement" link.

- Complete dealer name and address information.

- Complete the remaining fields highlighted with a red asterisk.

- Select "Engine Information Label" as the label type. Enter the number of the Service Letter Program in the field titled "Reason for the replacement label request?". The engine serial number field must be completed with the correct information.
Note: Multiple engines can be entered in Block 6.
Note: Be sure that the correct shipping information is provided. International requests must have a valid UPS or DHL account number.
Note: You will be sent two labels when you place the On-line order for the Engine Information Label. The Engine Information Label and the Serial Number Plate must both be installed as directed in the rework procedure. - Remove the original adhesive label. Properly clean the area, and replace the existing label with the new label and clear overlay.
- Destroy the old emissions/certification label.
