(1) Rotor

  • Measure the clearance between the lobes of the inner rotor and the outer rotor with a feeler gauge.

    Table 1
Clearance between inner and outer rotor (New)   0.030 mm (0.0012 inch) to 0.14 mm (0.0055 inch)
Allowable Clearance  0.2 mm (0.008 inch)

    (2) Pump Body

  • Measure the clearance between the outer rotor and the pump body with a feeler gauge.

    Table 2
Clearance between outer rotor and pump body (New)   0.11 mm (0.0044 inch) to 0.19 mm (0.0074 inch)
Allowable clearance  0.25 mm (0.0098 inch)

  • If the clearance is more than the allowable limit, replace the rotor assembly of the oil pump.

      (3) Plastigage

    1. Put a strip of Plastigage on the rotor face with grease.

    2. Install the cover and tighten the bolts.

    3. Remove the cover carefully.

    4. Measure the width that Plastigage becomes flat with the scale to get the oil clearance.

      Table 3
Clearance between inner rotor and cover (New)  0.105 mm (0.00414 inch) to 0.150 mm (0.00590 inch)
Allowable clearance  0.20 mm (0.008 inch)

    5. If the clearance is more than the allowable limit, replace the rotor assembly of the oil pump.
