There have a number of isolated instances of issues with the fuel injection pump on certain C6.6 and C6.4 engines.

Illustration 1g02786017

Typical example

The issue is that fuel may leak from the outlet connection (1) on the fuel injection pump.

If a fuel leak was detected at the outlet connection on the fuel injection pump, a visual inspection of the internal cone surface finish of the outlet connection is required.

  1. Remove the fuel injection line (2) from the fuel injection pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Injection Lines - Remove" for the correct procedure. Discard the fuel injection line.

    Illustration 3g02785993

    Typical example

  1. Visually inspect the internal cone surface finish of the outlet connection. If the internal cone surface finish is like illustration 2, remove the fuel injection pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Injection Pump - Remove" for the correct procedure. Install a new fuel injection pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Injection Pump - Install" for the correct procedure. Return the replaced fuel injection pump. If the internal cone surface finish is like illustration 3, proceed to step 3.

  1. Install a new fuel injection line (2) from the fuel injection pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Injection Lines - Install" for the correct procedure.
