C7 and C9 On-highway Engines Caterpillar

Plate Locations and Film Locations

Usage:

C7 C7S
Cat engines are identified with serial numbers, with performance specification numbers, and with arrangement numbers. In some of the cases, modification numbers are used. These numbers are shown on the Engine Serial Number Plate and the Engine Information Film that are mounted on the engine.

Cat dealers need these numbers in order to determine the components that were included with the engine. The serial number ensures accurate identification of replacement part numbers.
