Stop the engine before you adjust the parking brake cable. Fully extend the rod for the parking brake control valve.

  1. Install parking brake control knob (1). Thread the knob onto the end of the parking brake cable by at least 10 mm (0.4 inch). Tighten parking brake control knob (1) to a minimum torque of 8.2 N·m (73 lb in).

  2. Pull out on the parking brake cable until dimension (B) is reached. Dimension (B) equals 55 ± 2 mm (2.16 ± 0.08 inch).

  3. Center the parking brake cable on bulkhead mount (5). Align rod end (4) with the hole in lever (2). Thread the parking brake cable into the rod end. Tighten nut (3) to a torque of 7.91 ± 3.05 N·m (70 ± 27 lb in).

    Note: Fully extended the rod for the parking brake control valve. Also, make sure that parking brake control knob (1) is adjusted according to Steps 1 and 2.

  4. Adjust bulkhead mount (5) so that at least 8 mm (0.32 inch) of cable is in rod end (3).

  5. Tighten four bulkhead nuts (6) to a torque of 18 ± 3 N·m (159 ± 27 lb in). Do not allow the nuts to damage the seals.

Note: Dimension (A) is the total amount of travel for the parking brake cable. Dimension (A) equals 33.6 mm (1.32 inch).
