Usage:

Caterpillar Products:
  • All
  • ReferenceRefer to Special Instruction, REHS5097, "Retrofit Registration Instructions" for detailed registration instructions.

There is an improved process that Cat Dealers can use to register all types of retrofits. The new process uses the existing SIMSi and AIMS systems to update the product configuration for all Cat Dealers to view.

    What is a Retrofit

Retrofit - The adaptation of newer technology or content to older models of equipment

After being retrofitted, the engine will contain parts that are not in the Parts Manual for that engine. Examples of engine retrofits include:

    • Exhaust aftertreatment such as diesel particulate filters (DPF), oxidation catalysts, and selective catalytic reduction (SCR)

    • Engine control system upgrades

    • Fuel system upgrades

    • Air system upgrades

    Dealer and Customer Benefits

Registering retrofits will update the product configuration database. The dealer will see the correct, as-maintained, configuration in the SIMSi "Product Configuration" screen. Registering a machine retrofit will help to improve service performance.

The retrofit product installation registration enables Caterpillar to communicate important product updates to Cat Dealers and customers.

Actions Required by Cat Dealers and Customers

The retrofit product Special Instruction will indicate if registration is required and what information will be needed.
