Implement Droops Before Raising

Usage:

D7E TAN

------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury or death can result from escaping fluid under pressure.

Escaping fluid under pressure, even a very small pin-hole size leak, can penetrate body tissue and cause serious injury and possible death. If fluid is injected into your skin, it must be treated immediately by a doctor familiar with this type of injury.

Always use a board or cardboard when checking for a leak.

Probable Causes

  • The load sense line has air.

  • The oil is too cold.

  • A piston seal in a cylinder has excessive wear.

  • There is a leak between the control valve and the cylinder that has drifted.

  • The check valve for the load is not closing because of dirt or because of a worn seat.

  • The control valve is not centering correctly.

  • The position sensor for the lever is faulty.

  • Sticky makeup valve

Recommended Actions

Note: Care must be taken in order to ensure that fluids are contained during inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the machine. You must be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component that contains fluid. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations.

Air In Load Sense Line

Oil aeration occurs because of a loose connection or because of a restriction in the oil lines on the inlet side of the pump.

A load sensing signal is sent from the signal resolver network. This signal is the highest signal that is commanded by any of the control valves. The signal is not the sum of the signals that are commanded by all of the control valves. This signal represents the single greatest load that is being placed on the hydraulic system. The flow that is supplied by the hydraulic pump is the amount that is required in order to keep the supply pressure at the pressure of load sensing signal plus the margin pressure.

The Oil Is Too Cold

Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU8589, "Lubricant Viscosities and Refill Capacities".

A Piston Seal In An Implement Cylinder Has Excessive Wear

Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Operational Checks (Hydraulic System)" in this manual.

There Is A Leak Between The Control Valve And The Cylinder That Has Drifted

Leaks at fittings and other types of hydraulic line connections can cause loss of oil flow. This condition can prevent components from attaining pressures that are necessary to perform work. Low hydraulic pressure will cause the implements to be weak. Low hydraulic pressure will also cause the implements to drift in the HOLD position. Check for leaks at all fittings and connections of hydraulic oil hoses, lines, and tubes in the system in question. Correct any problems that are found. Retest the system.

The Check Valve for the load Is Not Closing Because Of Dirt Or Because Of A Worn Seat

Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Operational Checks (Hydraulic System)" in this manual.

  1. Ensure that the machine is on a surface that is level.

  2. Lower the blade all the way. Continue to lower the blade until the machine is raises off the ground.

  3. Move the control handle for the implement to the HOLD position.

  4. Shut off the engine.

Watch the lift cylinder rods for movement.

The Control Valve Is Not Centering Correctly

Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Calibration" in this manual.

The Lever Position Sensor Is Faulty

Table 1
Event Codes
Code and Description  Conditions which Generate this Code  System Response
E467(1) Blade Lift Control Out Of Neutral At Inappropriate Time   This code indicates that the control was active when the engine was started. The implement system was turned on.  Release the handle for the blade. Ensure that the handle is in the neutral position. If the event continues to occur, test the handle.
E887(2) Blade Function Disabled Due to System Fault  This event only appears when there is either a lockout switch fault or any short to battery solenoid diagnostic while the handle for the implement is displaced. An active EID 2115 will also be present during this event.   Move the blade control handle to neutral. Check active events and correct the problem.
E2115(2) Implements Disabled Due to System Fault  Activated when a diagnostic code is active for an implement system component for any of the following conditions: Short to battery condition on any of the blade control solenoids.
Implement lockout switch is faulted (CID 0490)
Check active diagnostic codes and correct the problem.

Check the monitoring system in order to check for event codes associated with the implement control handle raise/lower sensor.

If one or more of the above event codes is logged, check the monitoring system for fault codes related to the blade control handle raise/lower sensor.

Perform the calibration procedure for the blade control handle (position sensors). Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Calibration" in this manual.

Makeup Valve Is Sticking

If the makeup valve is sticking and not operating freely, there can be a pause in movement at the ground when lowering the blade. If the makeup valve leaks, "Down Pressure" may be weak. In the extreme, the implement may move UP, from external forces, with the control valve in the HOLD position.

Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Operational Checks (Hydraulic System)" in this manual.
