- Apply Tooling E to the bores for lip seals (1) and (15). Use Tooling D to install lip seals (1) and (15) in each side of the cylinder and rod assemblies. Make sure that the sealing lips are facing outward.
- Install ring (3) and retaining ring (4) in cylinder body (10) .
- Apply Tooling F then Tooling G to the threads of bolts (5) prior to assembly. Install six bolts (5) and the washers in cylinder body (10) and tighten the bolts to a torque of 100 ± 15 N·m (75 ± 10 lb ft).
- Install piston ring (17), buffer seal assembly (21), U-cup seal (22), and wiper seal (23) in head (13). Make sure that the sealing lip of wiper seal (23) is facing the rod end of the cylinder. Lubricate the seal lip with the lubricant that is being sealed.
- Install four bolts (24) and the washers in head (13) .
- Install head seal (20), O-ring seal (18), and backup ring (19) on head (13). Lubricate the seal lip with the lubricant that is being sealed.
- Install head (13) on rod assembly (11) .
- Install wear ring (7) and seal assembly (8) on piston (9). Lubricate the seal lip with the lubricant that is being sealed.
- Install piston (9) on rod assembly (11) .
- Lubricate the threaded end of rod assembly (11) and install nut (6). Use Tooling B to tighten nut (6) to a torque of 18000 ± 800 N·m (13280 ± 590 lb ft).
- Install cylinder body (10) on rod assembly (11). Install eight bolts (14) and the washers that hold head (13) to cylinder body (10). Tighten bolts (14) when the rod is fully extended. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 1800 ± 200 N·m (1325 ± 150 lb ft).
- Remove the tilt cylinder from Tooling A. The weight of the tilt cylinder is 430 kg (948 lb).
End By:
a. Install the tilt cylinder. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Tilt Cylinder - Install" for the machine that is being serviced.
