A New Strainer Is Used on the Air Starting Systems of Certain C18 and C32 Engines {1451}

Usage:

C18 C1J
Generator Set:
C18 (S/N: GBM1-UP; CYN1-UP; GEN1-UP; MGS1-UP)
C32 (S/N: RNE1-UP; RNX1-UP)
Marine Engine:
C18 (S/N: WKB1-UP; C1J1-UP; GES1-UP; KJT1-UP; J2K1-UP)
C32 (S/N: RND1-UP; RNR1-UP; RNY1-UP; RNZ1-UP)

Description of Change: The new strainer provides protection to the optional air starter attachment against debris from shipboard piping.

Adaptable To: The new 146-5215 Air Lines Strainer Gp is adaptable back to first production on the serial numbers listed above.

The new 146-5215 Air Lines Strainer Gp or a 300 mesh equivalent are required on the high-pressure supply on vessels with air starting systems.

Note: The new strainer must be installed using the guidelines found in Application and Installation Guide, LEBW4980, "Starting Systems".This change is effective for the serial numbers listed in Table 1.
