A Procedure to Properly Torque the Fittings on the Fuel Manifold Group on Certain C13 and C15 On-Highway Truck Engines Is Available {1274, 1380, 1702}

Procedure

Use the following procedure that is listed below to verify that the fittings on the fuel manifold group are tightened correctly before the engine is released back into service.

(1) 353-8397 Connector As

(2) 353-8398 Connector As

(3) Fuel manifold group

  1. Tighten connector (1) to a torque of 20 N·m (14 lb ft). Refer to Illustration 1.

  1. Tighten connector (2) to a torque of 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

    (4) Pilot fuel supply line

    (5) Main fuel supply line

  1. Tighten the main fuel supply line (5) which connects to the main connector assembly to a torque of 26 N·m (19 lb ft).

  1. Tighten the pilot fuel supply line (4) which connects to the pilot connector assembly to a torque of 43 N·m (32 lb ft).

  1. Start the engine, and run the engine in order to ensure that there is no fuel leakage after service work is performed.

  1. Tighten the elbow assembly (6) to a torque of 18 N·m (13 lb ft). Refer to Illustration 3.

  1. Tighten connector (1) to a torque of 20 N·m (14 lb ft).
