Removal Procedure


    NOTICE

    Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

    Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.

    Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Drain the coolant from the cooling system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change".

  2. Remove the fan drive belt.

  3. Disconnect the lower radiator hose from the water pump.

  4. Disconnect hose assembly (1).

  5. Remove bolts (2).

  6. Raise housing (3) in order to disconnect tube assembly (4).

  7. Remove bolt (6) and pulley (5).

  8. Remove brackets (7) and bracket (8).

  9. Disconnect tube assembly (4).

  10. Remove bolts (11).

  11. Loosen clamps (9).

  12. Remove adapter (10).

  13. Remove inlet housing (12).

  14. Remove bolts (13).

  15. Remove water pump (14).
