An improved procedure for operation of the battery disconnect system is now available. Use the improved procedure on the following part numbers:
- 7N-0718 Disconnect Switch Gp
- 7N-0719 Disconnect Switch Gp
- 7N-1745 Disconnect Switch
- 9H-2082 Disconnect Switch
- 292-0362 Disconnect Switch
- 161-7082 Disconnect Switch
- 229-2458 Disconnect Switch
Installation of aftermarket devices and/or faulty conditions may provide an unexpected ground path which may not allow electrical system isolation with the keyswitch in the OFF position.
Use the improved procedure in order to verify electrical system isolation once the battery disconnect switch is placed in the OFF position.
- With the battery disconnect switch in the ON position, verify that electrical components in the operator compartment are functioning. Verify that the hour meter is displaying information. Verify that the engine will crank.
NOTICE |
---|
Never move the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position while the engine is operating. Serious damage to the electrical system could result. |
Note: To ensure no damage to the engine occurs, verify that the engine is fully operational before cranking the engine. Do not crank an engine that is not fully operational.
- Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.
- Verify that the following items are not functioning:
- Electrical components in the operator compartment
- Hour meter
- Engine cranking
If any item continues to function, immediately troubleshoot the faulty condition.
- Electrical components in the operator compartment
- When you service the product, remove the disconnect switch key.
- If the product is equipped with a lockout control, secure the lock on the disconnect switch until the product is ready to be operated and all personnel are clear.
