Troubleshooting for the Hydraulic System

Problem List (Auto Mode)

• "The AccuGrade system will not engage in automatic mode and the hydraulics icon is flashing with a bar through the icon."

• "Poor Performance"

Probable Causes (Auto Mode)

The AccuGrade system will not engage in automatic mode and the hydraulics icon is flashing with a bar through the icon.

Note: TheAccuGrade system is programmed to disengage from the auto mode if the machine implements are not moved in 60 seconds and the machine is in neutral.

1. The parking brake is on.

   1. Disengage the parking brake.

2. Electrical system fault

   1. Use Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) in order to check for any system faults.

   2. Check the Caterpillar Monitoring System for any system faults.

   3. Check the display for the AccuGrade system for any system faults.

      Reference: Refer to the Troubleshooting, "Determining Detected Faults (Display)" for more information.

3. The lockout for the hydraulic system is engaged on the M-Series Motor Grader.

   1. Disengage the lockout for the hydraulic system.

4. The operator is not in the seat on a M-Series Motor Grader.

   1. Return to the seat.

5. The software enabled attachment has not been turned on for the M-Series Motor Grader.

Poor Performance

1. Improper setting of the valve speed.

   Reference: Refer to Testing and Adjusting , "Blade Reaction Time - Adjust (Valve Speed)" for more information on this procedure.

2. The valves have been improperly calibrated.

   Note: Ensure that the calibration for the solenoids on the machine has been completed before performing the valve calibration for the AccuGrade system on a M-Series Motor Grader.

3. Improper setup for the laser transmitter

   Reference: Refer to Operation and Maintenance, SEBU8276, "Laser Transmitter Setup Information (Dual Mast System)" for more information on setup of the laser transmitter.

4. Improper setup of the laser receiver

   Reference: Refer to Operation and Maintenance, SEBU8276, "Startup (Dual Mast System)" for more information on the setup of the laser receiver.

5. There is excessive air in the hydraulic system.

   1. Bleed the air from the hydraulic system.

6. Operating conditions are not suitable for the AccuGrade system.

7. Hydraulic oil temperature is too low.

   1. Warm up the machine's hydraulic oil.
