Procedure to Clean the Oil Passage in the Exhaust Rocker Arm {1123}
- Engine:
- C7 (S/N: C7S1-UP)
- C9 (S/N: MFF1-UP; C9S1-UP)
The 2007 Model Year C7 and C9 engines require an oil spray from holes that are drilled in the exhaust rocker arm to cool the injector solenoids.
The following procedure is used when debris is suspected for a lack of cooling oil that is being sprayed on the injectors. This obstruction needs to be removed.
- After the exhaust rocker arm has been removed from the engine and the rocker arm shaft, the following items can be used to flush the oil passage in the exhaust rocker arm: solvent 150, kerosene and mineral spirits
- After the rocker arm has been flushed, run a properly sized wire through the oil passage in the rocker arm.
- Once any obstructions have been removed, the rocker arm can be reinstalled.
