The Orientation of the Turbocharger Coolant Hose May Cause Coolant to Leak on Some 3500B Engines{1070, 1380}

Introduction

The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.

Problem

Engines with a water cooled turbocharger that are using a 188-5140 Hose As have experienced coolant leaks. In some instances, the hose has been oriented in a horizontal fashion. This may cause the hose to rub against the turbocharger which can result in a coolant leak.

Solution

Correct the orientation of the hose. Refer to Illustrations 1 and 2 for proper placement of the hose.
