- Insert Tooling (A) to balancer unit (3) .

- Ensure that number one piston is at the top center position. Refer to Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Fuel System" for the correct procedure.
- Clean the surfaces of the cylinder block (2) .

- Ensure that dowels (4) are installed correctly.
- Attach a suitable lifting device to the balancer unit. The balancer unit weighs approximately 25 kg (55 lb).
- Use the lifting device to align the balancer unit to the cylinder block. Ensure that dowels (4) are aligned with the holes in the balancer unit.
- Ensure that crankshaft gear (44) and idler gear (13) mesh.

- Install bolts (1) and tighten the bolts to a torque of 52 N·m (38 lb ft).
- Remove the lifting device.
- Remove Tooling (A) from balancer unit (3) .

- Use Tooling (E) in order to check the backlash between the idler gear and the crankshaft gear. Refer to Specifications, "Gear Group - Front" for the correct tolerance.
End By: Install the engine oil pan. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Pan - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
