Note: Before installation of the flywheel housing, inspect the front face of the flywheel housing and the rear face of the rear housing. The components must be free of the following substances: oil, fuel, water, assembly compounds and any other contaminants

Use the following procedure to tighten the flywheel housing bolts:

  1. Tighten the bolt (1) through bolt (2) in the numerical sequence that is shown in Illustration 1 to 55 ± 10 N·m (41 ± 7 lb ft). These bolts are 3/8-16 X 4 3/4 inches.

  2. Tighten the bolt (3) through bolt (10) in the numerical sequence that is shown in Illustration 1 to 135 ± 20 N·m (100 ± 15 lb ft). These bolts are 1/2-13 X 5 inches.

  3. Tighten the bolt (11) through bolt (34) in the numerical sequence that is shown in Illustration 1 to 47 ± 9 N·m (35 ± 7 lb ft). These bolts are 3/8-16 X 2 1/2 inches.
