Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
Note: Put identification marks on all hoses, on all hose assemblies, on wires and on all tube assemblies for installation purposes. Plug all hose assemblies and tube assemblies. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.
- Turn the fuel supply to the OFF position.
- Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.
- Disconnect plastic tube assembly (4) and plastic tube assembly (5) from fuel priming pump (3).
- Disconnect plastic tube assembly (2) from fuel priming pump (3).
- Plug all the connections on fuel priming pump (3) and plastic tube assembly (4) and plastic tube assembly (5).
- Disconnect the harness assembly from fuel priming pump (3).
- Support the fuel priming pump. Remove bolts and washers (1) and remove fuel priming pump (3).

- Ensure that the fuel priming pump is clean and free from wear or damage. If necessary, replace the fuel priming pump as a complete assembly.
- Position fuel priming pump (3) onto the cylinder head. Install bolts and washers (1). Ensure that any brackets that are retained by the bolts are installed in the correct position. Tighten the bolts to a torque on
9 N·m (80 lb in) . - Remove all plugs from the fuel priming pump and from the plastic tube assemblies. Connect plastic tube assembly (4) and plastic tube assembly (5) to fuel priming pump (3).
- Connect plastic tube assembly (2) to fuel priming pump (3).
- Install the harness assembly to fuel priming pump (3).
- Turn the fuel supply to the ON position.
- Turn the battery disconnect switch to the ON position.
- Remove the air from the fuel system. Refer to Operations and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel System - Prime".
