Description of Change: Larger spotfaces have been added to the rear oil cooler bonnets. Longer bolts and spacers are used to improve torque retention in the water lines groups of the machines that are listed above. The front oil cooler bonnets have been replaced with new part numbers that have 1/2-13 inch mounting holes. The new mounting bracket of the oil cooler now includes larger 13.8 mm (0.54 inch) holes and 30 ± 1 mm (1.2 ± 0.04 inch) spotfaces. Longer bolts and spacers are used to improve the torque retention.

Adaptable To: The 10.5 mm (0.41 inch) holes can be enlarged to 13.8 mm (0.54 inch) (1) on the 7N-4940 Bracket. Machine the 23 ± 1 mm (0.9 ± 0.04 inch) spotfaces to 30 ± 1 mm (1.2 ± 0.04 inch ) (2). Refer to illustration 1.

The current rear 6I-3524 Oil Cooler Bonnet and the current rear 1W-4935 Oil Cooler Bonnet may be reworked by machining a 30 ± 1 mm (1.2 ± 0.04 inch) spotface (3) at the mounting hole locations. Maintain a minimum thickness of 11.9 mm (0.469 inch) (A) on the mounting flange. Refer to illustration 2. Table 3 lists the effective engine serial numbers for the improved water lines groups.
