Description of Change: An improved designed alternator guard is used in the belt guard groups on the above 3500 Commercial Engines. The design provides a longer metal insert. The insert has additional material in order to reduce the stress at the joint of the insert and the fiberglass. The material of the guard has changed to a compound that has greater strength. The material of the alternator guard is now white in color. Different spacers are now required.

Adaptable To: The new 288-6174 Alternator Guard Assembly is a direct replacement for the cancelled 160-9811 Alternator Guard Assembly in the groups that are listed in Tables 1 and 2. The spacers that must be changed are also listed in Tables 1 and 2.

The new alternator guard is adaptable to the engines that are listed above. The effectivity for manufacturing is listed in Table 3.
