Incorrect Programming of the "Pulses Per Mile" Parameter in CAT ET Configuration Screen{0785, 1901}

Usage:

3406B 2EK
Engine:
3406B (S/N: 2EK1-UP; 5YG1-UP; 8TC1-UP)
3406C (S/N: 4CK1-UP)

Introduction

The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.

Problem

A problem has been identified with Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET). CAT ET will not correctly program the "Pulses Per Mile" (PPM) parameter in the configuration screen for the PEEC Highway Truck applications. The Configuration screen is affected in the following versions of CAT ET:

  • 2005A v1.0

  • 2005A v1.1

  • 2005A v2.0

  • 2005B v1.0

  • 2005B v2.0

  • 2006A v1.0

Solution

The parameter can still be programmed with the CAT ET versions listed above. Perform the following procedure in order to program the PPM parameter:

  1. Enter the desired value.

  1. Record the displayed value that was returned by CAT ET.

  1. Enter the value that was recorded in Step 2. CAT ET will correctly program the desired value. CAT ET will correctly display the desired value.

This problem will be resolved with the release of version 2006B v1.0 for CAT ET.
