Start By:
- Remove the aftercooler. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Aftercooler - Remove".

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |

- Mark the orientation of bonnet (1) to the aftercooler housing for assembly purposes. Remove zinc rod (2). Remove bolts (3). Remove bonnet (1) .

- Remove O-ring seal (4) .

- Mark the orientation of bonnet (6) to the aftercooler housing for assembly purposes. Remove bolts (5). Remove bonnet (6) .

- Remove O-ring seal (7). Remove seal (8) for the divider.

Note: Do not hold the aftercooler in the vertical position. In the vertical position, the aftercooler core may slide out of the aftercooler housing.
- Carefully remove aftercooler core (9) from the aftercooler housing. Support aftercooler core (9) at all times during the removal process.

- Remove O-ring seals (10) from each end of aftercooler core (9) .

- Remove seals (11) from aftercooler core (9). If necessary, clean debris from aftercooler core (9) .

- Use Tooling (A) in order to clean deposits from tube assemblies (12) .
