Resistor Location (1) Resistors |
There are four resistors that will purge charge off the input EMI capacitors when the system has been de-energized and when the system has been shut down. The four resistors are located at the bottom of the Input/Output Cabinet, behind the left locked door.
There are two sets of resistors. Resistor R17 and Resistor R18 purge the charge off the input capacitors. Resistor R19 and Resistor R20 purge the charge off the output capacitors.
Resistor R17 and Resistor R18 are protected by the following fuses on the left panel of the Input/Output Cabinet: F17, F18 and F19. Refer to Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, RENR7654, "System Fuse (Input/Output Cabinet)".
The R19 and R20 resistors are protected by the F91, F92, and F93 fused on the left panel of the Input/Output Cabinet. Refer to Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, RENR7654, "System Fuse (Input/Output Cabinet)".
Removal
- Perform steps in the Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Internal Component Preremoval Steps (Input/Output Cabinet)" in order to de-energize the system and gain access to internal components.
- Locate the resistors.
The resistors are located at the bottom of the Input/Output Cabinet behind the left locked door. Refer to Illustration 1. Use a 127 mm (5/16 inch) hex key on the two latches to open the door.
- Remove the two nuts and four washers that connect the resistor to the red insulating spacers.
- Remove the cable at each end of the resistor. Each cable connection is labeled. Verify the labels.
- Remove the resistor.
Installation
- Connect the resistor between the screw posts connected to the red insulating spacers.
- Attach the two wires coming from the fuse block to the screw post at each end of the resistor. The wires locations are labeled.
Refer to Illustration 2.
