The Zig Zag Transformer (T5) is located on the floor of the MMS System Cabinet in a 4-wire installation. The Zig Zag Transformer (T5) is located on the rear panel in a 3-wire installation.
The transformer is required for establishing the neutral point of the UPS 3-phase output when the following conditions occur:
- discharge mode of the system
- disconnection of the utility input

Each of the three Zig Zag transformer cables has a 1500:5 current transformer (CT) installed on each of the cables. The CTs are located at the bottom of the cabinet in a 4-wire installation. The current transformers relay the flywheel telemetry to the board for the Zig Zag Controller.
