UPS 1000S/ UPS 1200S Uninterruptible Power Supplys Caterpillar

Capacitor (4 Wire Output Cabinet)

Usage:

ES12F CZE
The Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI) Capacitors are connected to the neutral output cable landing. These capacitors are charged during operation of the UPS and reduce the amount of electromagnetic interference in the system.

The neutral cable landing contains two banks of capacitors that are mounted back to back. The banks of capacitors are located at the rear of the cable landing. Refer to Illustration 1.

Removal

  1. Perform steps in that are listed in Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Internal Component Preremoval Steps (4 Wire Output Cabinet)" in order to de-energize the system and/or gain access to internal components.

    ------ WARNING! ------

When servicing or repairing electric power generation equipment:

    • Make sure the unit is either locked out or tagged DO NOT OPERATE.

    • Remove all fuses.

    • Make sure the generator engine is stopped.

    • Make sure all batteries are disconnected.

    • Make sure all capacitors are discharged.

    • Make sure residual voltage in the rotor, stator and the generator is discharged.

Failure to do so could result in personal injury or death.

    ----------------------

  1. Remove the following components from the bank of capacitors: six nuts, split washers and regular washers. Use a 178 mm (7/16 inch) socket.

  1. Remove the front capacitor bank by pulling the capacitor bank forward.

  1. Remove both spacers (top and bottom).

  1. Remove the rear capacitor bank.

    (1) Capacitors

  1. Attach the capacitor banks in the order that is indicated in Illustration 2. Refer to the following steps.

  1. Place the rear capacitor bank to the bracket.

The rear capacitors will face the back of the cabinet.

  1. Place two spacers on the bracket bolts.

One spacer on the top and one spacer on the bottom of the brackets bolts.

  1. Place the front capacitor bank on the bolts.

These capacitors will face the front of the cabinet.

  1. Attach the capacitor banks by using six washer and nut sets as shown in Illustration 2.

  1. Tighten the nuts with a 178 mm (7/16 inch) socket to 11.3 N·m (100 lb in)100 lb-in.
