(1) Generator set start module GSM option

The generator set module start option (1) adds either one or two breakers to the I/O cabinet. If two breakers are added, the designation for the breakers is CB11 and CB21.

The breakers are located on the front panel at the bottom of the cabinet behind the door. Refer to Illustration 1 for the location. The GSM Start Option (1) allows the UPS to control generators in cases of lost utility power. Also, the GSM Start Option (1) allows the UPS to start the external generator set if power is lost.

Refer to the following list of characteristics for the circuit breakers:

  • 480 VAC

  • 40 A

  • 3-pole

Removal Procedure

Refer to Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, RENR9988, "Internal Component Preremoval Steps (Input/Output Cabinet)" in order to shut down the system and gain access to internal components.

  1. Disconnect the six wires that lead to the circuit breaker and from the circuit breaker. Verify the labeling on the wires with the location of the wires. Verify the labeling on the cables for subsequent installation.

  2. Remove the four screws on the front of the breaker that secure the breaker to the rear of the cabinet.
