The following steps describe bringing the UPS/SMS online when the "Auto Load and Start" operating parameter is configured to "0" or "1".
Note: All alarms and notices must be acknowledged before the UPS/SMS can be placed online.
Note: Depending on the "Auto Load and Start " operating parameter setting, the UPS/SMS may go to the "Online" state automatically when power is applied to the UPS/SMS main input.
- Determine current "Auto Load and Start" setting from documentation or a reliable source.
- Apply facility power to the UPS/SMS main input and " Maintenance Bypass Input".
- Turn all Flywheel Cabinet keyswitches to the "Online" position.
- Touch the "Log On" tab on the GUI.
- Enter a valid user name and password. The GUI displays the "One Line" page.
Note: Depending on the setting of the "Auto Load and Start " operating parameter, the UPS/SMS may be in "Bypass Mode" or "Shutdown Mode". If the UPS/SMS goes to "Bypass Mode" automatically, skip step 5 and 6 go to step 7. The UPS/SMS Mode is displayed on the "One Line" page of the GUI on the Controls cabinet.
- If the UPS/SMS is in "Shutdown Mode", press the "Enable Bypass Command" button.
- Press the "Bypass" button. The UPS/SMS transfers to "Bypass Mode".
- Press the"Enable Online Command" button.
- Press the "Online" button.
The UPS/SMS performs system checks and goes online in a UPS/SMS system.
Note: Confirm that the UPS/SMS is in the "Online Mode" or "Regulating Mode" by checking the "Mode" box on the GUI "One Line" page.
The following steps describe bringing the MMU online when the "Auto Load and Start" operating parameter is configured to "1".
Note: All alarms and notices must be acknowledged before the MMU can be placed online.
Note: Depending on the "Auto Load and Start" operating setting, the MMU may go to the "Online" state automatically when power is applied to the MMU main input.
- Determine current "Auto Load and Start" setting from documentation or a reliable source.
- Turn all Flywheel Cabinet keyswitches to the "Online" position.
- Touch the "Log On" tab on the GUI.
- Enter a valid user name and password. The GUI displays the "One Line" page.
Note: Depending on the setting of the "Auto Load and Start " operating parameter, the MMU may be in "Bypass Mode" or "Shutdown Mode". If the MMU goes to "Bypass Mode" automatically, skip step 5 and 6 go to step 7. The MMU Mode is displayed on the "One Line" page of the GUI on the Controls cabinet.
- If the MMU is in "Shutdown Mode", press the "Enable Bypass Command" button.
- Press the "Bypass" button. The MMU transfers to "Bypass Mode".
- Press the"Enable Online Command" button.
- Press the "Online" button.
The MMU will go online and will affect the load based on the state of the Parallel Control Cabinet (PCC).
Note: Confirm that the MMU is in the "Online Mode" or "Regulating Mode" by checking the "Mode" box on the GUI "One Line" page.
Maintenance Bypass Mode (UPS/SMS) after performing DC Bus Maintenance
The following steps describe bringing the UPS/SMS Online from "Maintenance Bypass Mode" after maintenance has been done to the DC Bus components of the UPS/SMS system. This includes DC components in the Flywheel Cabinet, the Controls cabinet, or the Inverter cabinet.
Note: All alarms and notices must be acknowledged before the UPS/SMS or MMU can be placed online.
- Apply facility power to the UPS/SMS main input.
- Press the "Transfer from Maintenance Bypass" button in the Maintenence Bypass cabinet (button must be lit Green before operating).
- Enter a valid service level user name and password. The GUI displays the "One Line" page.
- If the UPS/SMS is in "Shutdown Mode", press the "Enable Bypass Command" button.
- Press the "Bypass" button. The UPS/SMS transfers to "Bypass Mode".
- Pre-charge the DC Bus by performing an "Autostart To Pre-Charge" command. Use the GUI or UPSView (Alt-P).
- Manually check the balance of the DC Bus voltages on the Flywheel Cabinet and the UPS/SMS via the telemetry tiles in UPSView .
- Go to "Bypass" (Ctrl-B).
- Verify the Inverters by performing an "Autostart to Inverters" command. Use the GUI or UPSView (Ctrl-l).
- Press the "Enable Bypass" button.
- Press the "Bypass" button.
- Wait for vacuum to come down to operable levels on all the flywheels.
- Turn all Flywheel Cabinet keyswitches to the "Online" position. The UPS/SMS performs system checks and goes online.
Note: Confirm that the UPS/SMS is in the "Online Mode" or "Regulating Mode" by checking the "Mode" box on the GUI "One Line" page.
- Refer to the section "Normal (UPS/SMS)" and repeat step 1 through step 9 in order to bring the system online.
