Introduction

This Technical Information Bulletin replaces the 27April 2006 Technical Information Bulletin "Dealer Inventory of UPS Flywheel Bearings". Disregard the 27April 2006 TIB. Refer to the following information.

Problem

A limited population of UPS Flywheel bearings may have a grease distribution discrepancy. Also, the bearings may have a seal deflection discrepancy.

Solution

Examine UPS Flywheel bearings service parts inventory in order to determine the population of affected serial numbers. Refer to Table 1 for identified serial numbers. This Technical Information Bulletin is applicable to the specified population of serial numbers that are listed in Table 1. These serial numbers were shipped to the dealer prior to December 1, 2005.

Upon confirming the inventory of the identified UPS Flywheel bearing serial numbers, contact Active Power Product Support at (800) 288-5081. Return shipment of the UPS Flywheel bearing(s) for inspection to Active Power will be arranged by the dealer. Active Power will return the bearings back to the dealer upon completion of the inspection or Active Power will provide the dealer with the correct replacements.

The serial number for the bearing is stamped onto the face of the bearing cartridge. The bearing has an alphanumeric sequence that is formatted in the following sequences:

• MICL####

• MICU####

The # symbol indicates a specific four digit numeric identification of the bearing. The fourth alpha character identifies that the bearing is either an "Upper" bearing or the bearing is a "Lower" bearing.
