A new balance disc is now available. The part number for the new balance disc is 7c-7527 .

The 7C-7527 Disc replaces the former 4P-1773 Disc. The 7C-7527 Disc improves the reliability of the 593 frame generators.

The following procedure is adaptable to the serial number that are listed in Table 3, Table 4, and Table 5.

Balance Disc Field Replacement Procedure

1. Remove exciter end disc.

2. Use a hand tap in order to chase the threaded hole that is in each bar. Use a hand tap in order to remove any hardened thread lock compound. Use the hand tap in order to ensure proper thread depth. Thread depth should be 12.7 mm (0.5 inch) (minimum) .

3. Apply thread lock compound to the four (4) 0S-1618 Bolts .

4. Replace the disc assembly. Use three (3) 9M-1974 Washers per bolt. Use one washer between the disc and the threaded bar and use two washers between the disc and the 0S-1618 Bolts. Refer to Illustration 1.

5. Torque the 0S-1618 Bolts as per Caterpillar 1E0279 specifications.

6. Balance the rotor.
