- Connect a PC to the Parallel Cabinet Interface Board that is located in the System Cabinet.
- Rotate the switch on the Parallel Interface Cabinet to the corresponding MMU.
- Run the UPSView software by double clicking the UPSView icon on your PC desktop.
- Select the "Enter Password" menu option in order to view the "Enter User Name" and the "Password" dialog box.
- Enter a valid "User Name". Enter a valid "Password". Refer to Illustration 2.
- Depress the "<Ctrl><X>" keys in order to bring the system to zero RPM.
- The system will prompt you to confirm the option. Depress "<Y>" key.
Note: Repeat this procedure for each flywheel.
Note: This procedure is only available once during a 24 hour period.
Note: A minimum of 15 minutes is required to lower the speed of the flywheel to 0 RPM.

- Disconnect the facility load circuits from the System Output Bus (1). Refer to Illustration 3.
- Open the Output Isolation Switches (4) ( 6) ( 8) ( 10) that are located in the System cabinet for the appropriate MMU. Refer to Illustration 4.
- Open the Input Isolation Switches (3) ( 5) ( 7) ( 9) that are located in the System cabinet for the appropriate MMU. Refer to Illustration 4.
- Remove facility power from the System Input Bus (2). Refer to Illustration 3.
- Allow the capacitor banks to discharge for approximately 5 minutes.
Note: When the flywheel is spinning, the following components are energized: the DC bus and the armature leads. Accomplish the procedure as quickly as possible. During the procedure, the rotor is spinning on the bottom bearing.

- Perform "System Pre-Shutdown".
- Turn the key switch (12) on the System cabinet to the BYPASS position. Refer to Illustration 5.
- Turn the key switch (13) on each Multiple Module Unit (MMU) to the BYPASS position. Refer to Illustration 6.
- Verify that the system is in Bypass mode. Press the "Home" soft key (19) that is located on the User Interface Panel. Observe the status line on the LCD (20). Refer to Illustration 5.

- Open the Input Isolation Switches (3) ( 5) ( 7) ( 9) that are located in the System cabinet for the appropriate MMU. Refer to Illustration 4.
- Open the Input Isolation Switch (15) that is located in the Input/Output Cabinet.
- Remove facility power from the System Input Bus (2). Refer to Illustration 3.
- Allow the capacitor to discharge for approximately 5 minutes.
Note: When the flywheel is spinning, the following components are energized: the DC bus and the armature leads. Accomplish the procedure as quickly as possible. During the procedure, the rotor is spinning on the bottom bearing.
